Wieliczka Salt Mine
Wieliczka Salt Mine is about 10km from the centre of Cracow by E40 route but one can also get there by commuter train from the central station or by minibus. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. It is a labyrinth of passageways, chambers and galleries with a total length of about 300 km, the remnant of 700-year operation. As a valuable cultural monument the mine was placed on the original roster of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1978. 

Visiting the Mine takes about 2 hours, and the best known and beautiful is the Chapel of St.Kinga. The mine is open from 8.00 to 6.00 (2 IX – 31 III), 7.30- 9.30 (1 IV – IX) except for 1st January, first day of Easter, 1st November and 4th, 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st December.
