Wawel, situated on the bend of the River Vistula houses the most precious in Poland set of monuments of national history and culture. It is the repository of knowledge of Polish history and at the same time a symbol of its continuity. The Hill was inhabited already about
100 000 BC and from the early medieval times was the center of the secular and ecclesiastical authorities.

On the Wawel Hill there is a valuable gothic Cathedral with Roman relicts – worship center of St. Stanislaus. The basement of the Cathedral houses the Royal tombs available to tourists. The Cathedral is crowned by three towers, one of which contains the famous Sigismund Bell – the biggest and most famous bell in Poland, which is rung only on the most important national and church occasions.

Visiting Wawel one cannot forget about the Royal Castle that served as a royal residence. Today one can visit Royal Chambers here. Inside the Castle there is also the Crown Treasury and Armory. There is also an interesting exhibition Wawel Lost. Another attraction is the Dragon’s Den – a place that used to be inhabited by a dangerous dragon…And next to it there is the dragon itself, although artificial, it breathes fire as a real one. The Wawel Hill is available to tourists every day since 6.00 till nightfall
