Morskie Oko

Morskie Oko is a bit far away from Zakopane, to be reached first by car and next on foot, walking the distance of about 8 km or using the local means of transport (usually carriages). Located on the altitude of 1395m consists in the biggest and most beautiful Tatra lake, numerously and most willingly visited by tourists. Along the lake there is the red trail, going up to Czarny Staw and next, to the highest Polish peak – Rysy (2499m ). Over Morskie Oko, the first lodge in the Tatras was built in 1874, recognized nowadays as the monument.

Valley of the Five Polish Ponds (Dolina Pieciu Stawów Polskich)
This beautiful valley is located in the High Tatras between Morskie Oko and Kozi WIerch (2291), high over the border of the forest with five picturesque ponds hidden behind it. The valley is drained by the Roztoka Stream which falling down to the Roztoki Valley creates Siklawa – the most powerful waterfall in the Tatra Mountains. In the Valley of the Five Polish Ponds, over the Front Pond, there is the lodge (the highest located one in Poland (1671m), reaching which in the winter can cause considerable problems.

It is worth combining the trip to Morskie Oko with a visit to this valley in months between spring and autumn. I can assure you of wonderful views and a tiring day full of unforgettable impressions.
